Dr. Marnie Hazelton gets #celebratED for being named the new Superintendent of the Alum Rock Union School District in San Jose, California! Marnie is a champion for student voice who has served as Superintendent for the Superintendent for the Englewood Public School District and the Linden Public Schools, both in New Jersey, and the Roosevelt Union Free School District in New York. Marnie works to dismantle barriers and build systems that ensure equity is not an aspiration, but a reality. She is recognized with the New Jersey Visionary Superintendent Award and Leading Now’s Civic Leadership in the Superintendency Award, and she has been a national Superintendent of the Year finalist and an NAACP Education Award honoree. Marnie is a Worthy Educator Champion in Education who has written for our Legacy journal, and she serves as a section editor for the Learners at the Center of our Roadmap 2031 project. We know she will achieve great things in San Jose doing the work that matters, as we continue to cheer her on and benefit from her brilliance!
