Mary Brownell is a new Distinguished Professor at the University of Florida! She has been serving as the Director of the National Center to Improve Policy and Practice in Special Education there since 2007. In addition, she has served as the Director for Studying Teacher Effectiveness Education and Policy as well as the Director of the Center on Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability, and Reform. Mary has devoted much of her research relating to teachers who work with students with disabilities. Recently, she has studied how school districts can prepare, develop, and retain high quality special education teachers. We celebrate her for her dedication to students with special needs and for all of her contributions to the profession!
